About Our Mission and Team
NOUNÂ Â The sphere or area of control, influence, or activity; the scope or extent of something.
Every identity has an ambit: a boundary around what it can reach and what it can do.
For decades, identity security focused primarily on people. Then software began doing more of the work.
Today, AI agents can reason, make decisions, use tools, and act on behalf of people. Their autonomy has grown much faster than the systems designed to govern them.
Aembit was born and built for this shift.
We give enterprises a way to control access for agents and other workloads through verified identity, policy-based authorization, and short-lived credentials.
To understand why Aembit exists, it helps to meet the two people who saw the problem unfolding before practically anyone else. Let’s get to know them. 👋
OUR TEAM
David Goldschlag and Kevin Sapp have spent much of their careers working on a particular kind of security problem: what happens when technology changes faster than the systems meant to control access to it.
They have worked together for nearly two decades. David began his cybersecurity career at the National Security Agency and co-invented onion routing, the privacy technology that became the foundation for Tor. Kevin built his career across enterprise security, cloud computing, and security product development, and holds several information-security patents.
Together, they founded New Edge Labs to rethink how people securely accessed applications as computing moved beyond the traditional network perimeter. Netskope acquired the company in 2019, and its technology became part of Netskope’s zero-trust network access offering.
Their next problem came from software itself.
As applications and services became more interconnected, access still depended heavily on service accounts, API keys, certificates, vaults, and cloud-specific IAM. Companies had ways to store credentials, but no consistent way to enforce access itself.
That became Aembit.
The company began by bringing modern IAM principles to workloads. Today, that same model extends to AI agents that use tools, access enterprise systems, and act on behalf of people.
For David and Kevin, Aembit continues the same work: building access controls for new computing models before yesterday’s assumptions become today’s liabilities.
OUR PEOPLE
At Aembit, our heart lies in our people. It sounds cliche, we know, but it’s really true! Our drive and commitment are what make us more than just a tech startup. We’re the soul behind every innovation, every line of code, every problem solved. We don’t claim to be unique in operating this way, but it’s undoubtedly a defining trait.
Overall, our approach is rooted in balance.
We dream big, but we never get ahead of ourselves.

We move from inflection point to inflection point with intention and care.
In every decision, from the strategic to the everyday, we prioritize flexibility and options.

We value the ability to adapt, to pivot, and to change paths completely.
It’s this blend of passion, pragmatism, and potential that truly defines Aembit’s culture.
