Many years ago, before the advent of specialised medical fridges, vaccines were kept in regular domestic refrigerators.

It was vitally important that someone personally monitored these fridges to make sure that vaccines were being stored at correct temperatures, and health departments brought in requirements to check temperatures at least twice a day. It was better than nothing, but only just.

Everything should have been fine. But health departments did not changes their regulations to keep up with the technology, and we ended up with the absurdity of logging temperatures twice a day in a fridge that would have been screaming the house down if there was a problem.
In some states they expected staff to not only manually check the fridge twice a day, but to also download the logger twice a day.
It used to take 2 minutes to check the temperature. Now it is taking 5 minutes TWICE A DAY to download the log.
