Key Questions To Ask Before Hiring A Childcare Cleaning Service That Keeps Children Safe Choosing
Childcare Cleaning Services in Sydney
Where Do You Need A Service?
After-Hours Cleaning for Sydney Childcare Centres and Preschools
Childcare cleaning covers the surfaces children actually touch — mats, toys, cots, tables, bathrooms and floors — cleaned nightly to a schedule your centre can produce at an assessment visit. Every JBN cleaner who enters a childcare centre holds a current NSW Working With Children Check and a National Police Check, and works after hours once the children have gone home.
What does childcare cleaning cover?
Children put their hands, and often their mouths, on almost everything at floor level. That is what drives the scope of a childcare clean.
| Area | What is cleaned | Typical frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Play rooms | Tables, chairs, floor mats, shelving, storage tubs, light switches, door furniture | Every service day |
| Toys and equipment | Hard toys and surfaces wiped and disinfected; soft items bagged for centre laundering | Daily / weekly rotation |
| Cots, mats and nap areas | Cot frames and rails, mat surfaces, bed bases; linen handled by centre staff | Every service day |
| Bathrooms and nappy change areas | Toilets, junior basins, change tables, bins, dispensers, floors | Every service day |
| Kitchen and bottle prep | Benches, sinks, splashbacks, external appliance surfaces, floors, bins | Every service day |
| Floors | Vacuum and damp mop hard floors; vacuum carpet and soft-fall areas | Every service day |
| Entry, foyer and sign-in | Doors, handles, sign-in bench and screen, parent seating, glass | Every service day |
| Outdoor and detail | Sandpit surrounds, outdoor tables, high dusting, vents, blinds, carpet extraction | Weekly to quarterly |
What we do not do: we do not launder linen or wash soft toys on site, and we do not handle food preparation. Those stay with your centre staff, where the regulations expect them to sit.
What do the National Quality Standard and the regulations require?
Cleaning is assessed, not incidental. Services are assessed against the National Quality Standard, and Regulation 103 requires that the premises, furniture and equipment are kept “safe, clean and in good repair”.
WWCC and Police Checked
Every cleaner assigned to a childcare service holds a current NSW Working With Children Check and a National Police Check. We can provide WWCC numbers for your records.
After Hours Only
We clean after the centre closes. No cleaning products or equipment are in use around children, and surfaces are dry and rooms ventilated well before the morning.
Fully Insured
JBN Cleaning carries full insurance covering the work performed at your centre. Certificates of currency are available to your director on request.
Cleaning Sydney Since 2012
We have cleaned commercial premises across Sydney since 2012. The schedule we build for your centre comes from services we already run, not from a template.
The National Quality Standard is administered by ACECQA, and Quality Area 2 covers children’s health and safety — explicitly including protecting children from infection. Regulation 103 of the Education and Care Services National Regulations sits underneath it, and is among the most commonly breached regulations in NSW. Cleanliness is not a soft corner of an assessment visit.
The reference the sector uses day to day is NHMRC’s Staying Healthy: Preventing infectious diseases in early childhood education and care services, now in its 6th edition (2024). It is where the practical guidance on cleaning toys, surfaces and nappy areas comes from, and it is the benchmark assessors read Regulation 103 against.
JBN Cleaning is not an approved provider and holds none of these accreditations — your service does. We clean so that the cleaning side of an assessment visit is not what costs you a rating.

How do we clean a childcare centre?
The Nightly Reset
Floors, bathrooms, nap areas, tables, high-touch points and bins are reset every service night, so the centre opens clean rather than being caught up during the day.
Toys and High-Touch Surfaces
Hard toys and play surfaces are wiped and disinfected on a nightly and weekly rotation. Soft items are bagged for your staff to launder, because that is where the regulations put them.
Products and Ventilation
Products are chosen for use in occupied children’s spaces and applied after hours at the correct dilution. Safety Data Sheets for everything used at your centre are provided on request.
Outbreak Response
If a child has been unwell, tell us and we will attend for an additional clean rather than waiting for the next scheduled visit, with attention to bathrooms, nap areas and high-touch surfaces.
How often should toys, cots and high-touch surfaces be cleaned?
The honest answer is that it depends on use rather than on a fixed legal interval. This is what we work to in practice.
What we clean on every visit
- Play rooms: tables, chairs, floor mats, shelving, storage tubs, light switches
- Toys and equipment: hard surfaces wiped and disinfected, soft items bagged for laundering
- Cots, mats and nap areas: frames, rails, mat surfaces and bed bases
- Bathrooms and nappy change areas: toilets, junior basins, change tables, bins, floors
- Kitchen and bottle prep: benches, sinks, splashbacks, appliance exteriors, floors
- Floors: hard floors vacuumed and damp mopped, carpet and soft-fall vacuumed
- Entry, foyer and sign-in: doors, handles, sign-in bench and screen, parent seating, glass
| Item | Practical frequency |
|---|---|
| High-touch surfaces — door handles, light switches, taps, sign-in screen | Every service day |
| Tables and chairs used for eating | After each meal by staff; full clean nightly |
| Hard toys in daily use | Nightly wipe-down, deeper rotation weekly |
| Soft toys and dress-ups | Bagged by us, laundered by centre staff, weekly rotation |
| Cots, mats and nap surfaces | Every service day |
| Nappy change areas | Between uses by staff; full clean and disinfect nightly |
| Bathrooms | Every service day |
| Sandpit surrounds and outdoor tables | Weekly |
| Carpet and soft-fall extraction | Quarterly, or after an illness outbreak |
Anything a child has been unwell on is treated as an immediate clean, not a scheduled one — tell us and we will attend.
How much does childcare cleaning cost in Sydney?
It depends on the number of rooms, licensed places, floor area in m², and how many nights a week you need. We inspect the centre and quote the actual scope rather than pricing off a phone call.
