Welcome to the MECC Faculty Fellows Program, a community offering professors, faculty members and educators the opportunity to actively engage with and shape the future of The MECC. As a Faculty Fellow, you have the flexibility to choose your level of involvement in driving the evolution of MECC. By joining, you can contribute your expertise, creativity, and passion to enhance the educational experience for students worldwide. This program emphasizes collaboration, innovation, and impact. As a participant, you become an integral part of MECC’s growth journey, contributing your expertise and insights to various key areas:

CASE DEVELOPMENT

Collaborate with educators and experts to create engaging cases that inspire and challenge MECC students and earn one free registration for the Active Cell Training Camp.

CASE TESTING

Ensure precise testing by meticulously reviewing cases, providing clear and understandable challenges for MECC participants

WALK-THROUGH VIDEOS

Share expertise with step-by-step instructional videos for an enriched learning experience

NETWORKING

Connect with other educators to raise MECC awareness and attract more participants and College Ambassadors

SPONSORSHIP LEADS

Founder and Director of the MECC. Associate Professor of Finance in the Eller College of Management. As Director, you’ll see David’s fingerprints on most MECC initiatives, particularly in the many MECC videos posted on our YouTube channel

Haslam College of Business

Professor of Finance who organized MECC's first regional collegiate competition, Excel on Rocky Top 2024. Eric currently works on case development, and is excited to help other faculty engage their campus communities in future MECC initiatives.

Two-time world financial modeling champion (2014, 2021), and four-time runner up. Along with his industry experience, he has a PhD in computer science and earned a CFA charter, which gives him a unique perspective as a financial modeler and trainer.

Chris McNeil

Appalachian State University

The Alfred Adams Professor of Banking at Appalachian State University, which he joined in 2004. He has worked with his colleagues at App State to infuse greater Excel coverage within coursework for students.

Linda Amann CMA

University of Wisconsin–Whitewater

Seasoned lecturer and MOS-Excel Expert at University of Whitewater – Wisconsin since 2007. She is passionate about teaching Microsoft Excel and applying this number one business tool to real world scenarios with her 20+ years of manufacturing background. Has a YouTube playlist - Helpful Excel Tips.

Alfonso Miguel Sevidal

Alfonso Miguel Sevidal

Active in mentoring Filipino students in various finance competitions, including the MECC, the CFA Institute Research Challenge, and the Financial Executives of the Philippines Inter-Collegiate Finance Competition. Big believer in hands-on, practical learning that occurs outside of the classroom. Currently an MBA candidate at the NYU Stern School of Business. Prior to Stern, he covered Philippine equities as a research analyst and taught finance as a lecturer at Ateneo de Manila University.

Dr. Sara Willox

University of Central Florida

A Lecturer in the Integrated Business Department of the College of Business Administration at the University of Central Florida. She teaches Business Research for Decision Making in a large capacity hybrid format that emphasizes the use of Excel as a tool to aid in the decision-making process.

Carolyn Hamilton

Utah Valley University

A professor in the Woodbury School of Business at Utah Valley University (UVU) in Orem, Utah. She earned a Master of Science in Mathematics from the University of California Riverside where she was a Chancellor’s Distinguished Fellow. While serving as chair for the Mathematics Department, she used her love of calculus, statistics, probability, and finance to create an Actuarial Science program. Recently named as the recipient of UVU’s Distinguished Teaching Award, she currently coordinates the business calculus course.

Peter Scharl

Oliver Wyman

Peter is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and has been in the actuarial science profession for fifteen years. Peter finished in 4th place in the 2023 MEWC and has created several cases used in the MEWC and the MECC.

Fritz Burkhardt CFA, PhD

Norwich University

Fritz is a Visiting Professor of Finance at the Lasky School of Business at Norwich University. Fritz worked on Wall Street as a research analyst covering Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union and in London as an investment banker in mergers and acquisitions. Fritz is an accomplished Ultimate Frisbee player, winning multiple national championships and one world championship.

Nora Junaid

UMass Amherst

Nora Junaid, a senior Lecturer at UMass Amherst, teaches Excel to over 1,000 students annually and authored Excel Ninja: A Guide from Zero to Hero. She develops training materials for MECC, leads the first Northeast Excel competition, and shares Excel tips with 260K+ Instagram followers. A Microsoft Ambassador and Excel Creator Program member, she has earned honors like the Research and Pedagogy Award and Marquis Who's Who listing.
