Competitions provide registered students with a chance to compete against peers from across the globe. To best prepare, we recommend the following steps before the competition begins:


Team competition coordinated by MECC College Ambassadors for teams of three.
• Levels: Junior Varsity and Varsity levels, but teams must choose the level before the event
• Time: 1:00 PM Pacific Time | UTC 21:00
• Participation: In person, linked online (Excel Esports Online)
• Entry via: College Ambassador
• Hosted by: the University of Arizona (Prof. David Brown)
• Aditionally: Teams may chat via Excel Esports Online or collaborate by seting up a shared Excel Online file beforehand
Top 30% Varsity team players qualify for the MECC Team Championships Quarter-Final in Las Vegas (Nov 30–Dec 2, 2026). Qualified players can play in the same teams or form new teams, but Students who graduate before the MECC Championships are not eligible.

Online individual competition that is available throughout the weekend where students may choose any start time that fits their schedule.
• Levels: Junior Varsity and Varsity (students may participate in both)
• Opens: 4 PM (Jan 30) Pacific Time | 00:00 (Jan 31) UTC
• Closes: 11:59 PM (Feb 1) Pacific Time | 7:59 (Feb 2) UTC
• Format & Platform: Individual online competition via ExPrep
• Important: Once the case is downloaded, the 30-minute timer begins immediately
• Results: Posted on the MECC website after each competition. Top 30% listed with name, country, and university; others published in rankings anonymously, but can be compared via ExPrep. Students who compete in both levels and score above the Varsity median are excluded from Junior Varsity rankings.
Participating in at least three battles earns the Excel Athlete badge.

• Levels: Junior Varsity and Varsity
• Format & Platform: Cases are completed in 30-minute testing sessions online via ExPrep
• Badge: All participants receive a badge for participation
• Advancement: Overall Varsity winners from each MECC Regional advance to the Online Regional Winners’ Battle on April 25 (live-streamed)*
The Online Regional Winners’ Battle winner earns a guaranteed Top 10 spot at the MECC European Open + travel reimbursement, and hotel accommodations.

The highlight of the MECC Spring Season 2026 is this in-person event, held alongside the Excel Esports European Open 2026, where professional Excel Esports athletes compete for the championship title. Detailed European Open rules and formats will be announced soon.
