“I recently had the pleasure of working with Jesse Taylor Photography on some personal branding headshots for LinkedIn and my social media.
From start to finish, the entire experience was top-notch. Jesse’s a real pro, with over 15 years of experience under his belt, and it absolutely shows in his work.
Jesse instantly made me feel at ease, keeping the atmosphere relaxed and light-hearted (you’ll definitely be smiling naturally in your photos!).
I couldn’t be happier with the final shots.
If you're in the market for professional headshots or branding photos, I can’t recommend Jesse highly enough. Top photos, and a genuinely great experience all around!”

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are you located?
My photography studio is located in Bellevue Hill, in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, just 15 minutes from Sydney CBD.
Most individual LinkedIn headshot sessions take place in the studio, where I have full control over lighting and background options.
If you prefer, I can also photograph you at your office or another suitable location. Team headshot sessions are generally photographed on location at your workplace.
Do we have to go to your studio?
Not at all. While most individual LinkedIn headshots are photographed in my Bellevue Hill studio, I can also come to your office or another suitable location.
This on-location option is ideal if you want:
- Convenience: No need to travel to the studio.
- A Familiar Environment: Being photographed in your own space can help the session feel more relaxed.
- A Workplace Setting: Your office can provide a natural backdrop for a more contextual headshot.
What locations do you serve?
I’m based in Sydney and photograph clients across the Greater Sydney region.
For individual LinkedIn headshots, most sessions take place in my Bellevue Hill studio, but I can also come to your office or another suitable location.
I'm not photogenic and hate having my photo taken! Can you help?
I hear you! Almost everyone I photograph starts by telling me how much they dislike being in front of the camera. We are often our own harshest critics, focusing on features that others, who see us much more generously, never even notice.
Campaigns like Dove’s Real Beauty have tapped into this, powerfully highlighting how we struggle to be kind to ourselves.
My job is to change this narrative.
Being “photogenic” isn’t a personality trait – it’s a result of great lighting and expert direction.
I specialise in creating a relaxed environment where you feel comfortable. I see the best in you and use sympathetic posing and flattering lighting to bring that out.
My goal is to give you a new headshot that you are genuinely proud to share with the world.
Do I Have To Smile?
In short: No.
While a warm smile can project confidence and approachability, it isn’t the only way to create a powerful professional image.
Some clients prefer a more serious, authoritative, or thoughtful look, and for some industries, this approach makes a much stronger statement.
I also work with many clients who feel self-conscious about their teeth or their smile.
Regardless of the reason, a forced smile looks unnatural, and you likely won’t be happy with the result.
My goal is to capture authenticity, and we can achieve this without a smile.
I will provide the expert direction needed to ensure your expression feels genuine and you’re happy with the photos.
No forced smiles required.
What should I wear?
Your clothing plays a key role in how you’re perceived, so it’s worth giving it careful consideration.
Start by thinking about your industry, role and the impression you want to create. Choose outfits that feel like you, while still looking appropriate for where and how the image will be used.
As a general guide:
- Keep it simple, well fitted, and free of distractions.
- Avoid bold patterns and large logos.
- Choose colours that complement you and work well with the background.
I recommend bringing a couple of options, even if you’re only after a single image. I can help you choose what works best on the day.
I have a more detailed look at the thorny “What should I wear?” question here.
How long does it take?
Allow around 20 minutes per look.
That said, I don’t rush the process. If we need a little longer to get everything right, we’ll take it. The goal is simple: you leave with a headshot you’re happy with.
Can you match my company’s existing headshot style?
Absolutely. If your company has an established headshot style, send me a few examples before the session and I can match the lighting, background, crop and overall look as closely as possible.
This is particularly useful if you’re joining an existing team, replacing an older photo, or need your new headshot to sit seamlessly alongside colleagues’ images.
What about the background?
Most LinkedIn headshots work best with a clean, neutral background, such as white, grey or something similarly understated. This keeps the focus on you and gives the image plenty of versatility across LinkedIn, websites and other professional uses.
If you’re being photographed at your office, we can also use the environment as a softer, more natural background.
If you’re unsure which background will work best, we can discuss the options before the session and agree on the most suitable choice for your clothing, role and how you plan to use the image.
Do you provide a hair and makeup service?
Yes, I can arrange for a professional hair and makeup artist (HMUA) to be on-site for your session. A full camera-ready styling session typically requires a minimum of 45 minutes, so this needs to be factored into the schedule.
Even without an HMUA, I’m still prepared for minor last-minute adjustments. I bring matte powder, blotting tissues, lint rollers, hairspray and a few other useful items so you look your best before we shoot.
What Is A Look?
Think of a look as a distinct combination of wardrobe, lighting, background and styling.
We consider it a new look when we make a significant change that shifts the overall mood or feel of the photo, such as:
- Wardrobe Change: Swapping a professional blazer for a casual sweater or a formal dress.
- Background/Location Shift: Moving from a classic studio grey to an outdoor “lifestyle” setting.
- Lighting Change: Moving from bright, airy high-key lighting to a moody, dramatic low-key setup.
To keep your session flowing, minor “micro-adjustments” are not new looks. These include:
- Small Wardrobe Tweaks: Adding or removing glasses, or buttoning/unbuttoning a jacket.
- Quick Hair Adjustments: Moving your hair from in front of to behind your shoulders.
- Framing Changes: Switching from a close-up headshot to a waist-up portrait.
Pro Tip: Some changes are quick whereas others can take a significant amount of time. All sessions can be tailored to accommodate multiple changes and we can often do this on the fly, but it’s always best to check ahead in advance to ensure we allow enough time.
How do I receive the photos?
I provide a seamless digital delivery process designed for efficiency. Once your session is complete, the workflow follows these steps:
- Private Online Gallery: You will receive a link to a password-protected online gallery.
- Review and Selection: This gallery allows you to review the photos and select your favourites.
- High Resolution Files: The photos can be downloaded as full sized files and as web optimised versions. These files are yours to keep.
- Retouched Files: The final images are uploaded to the same gallery for easy access.
What's the turnaround time?
I know you’re eager to see your shots, so I prioritise a fast workflow:
- The Proof Gallery: You’ll receive your high-resolution proofs within 24 hours of the shoot.
- Professional Retouching: Once you’ve selected your favourite image(s), the final retouched photos will be delivered within 48 hours.
If you have an urgent deadline, let me know before the session and I can usually fast-track delivery.
Do you retouch / photoshop the photos?
Yes, professional retouching is included with all LinkedIn headshot packages.
The approach is subtle, refining distractions while keeping the result natural. The goal is for you to look like yourself on your best day, not overly processed.
If you have specific preferences, I can tailor the retouching to suit you.
What's Included In Retouching?
My approach is to enhance rather than alter, ensuring a polished, natural result.
For portraits, this includes refining skin, reducing shine, tidying hair and clothing, and removing minor distractions.
I’ll also clean up backgrounds so nothing draws attention away from you.
If you have specific requests, I’m happy to accommodate them.
What makes you different?
Quite simply, I focus on you. I don’t offer a cookie-cutter service, working to a formula that doesn’t account for your individuality.
You’re unique, so I create headshots that feel natural and authentic to you.
I work with you to find the right pose and expression to bring out your very best.
I pride myself on giving you photos you are proud to use.
And I work really hard to do this as quickly as possible, knowing that many people don’t enjoy the experience.
You deserve to get great photos with the minimum of fuss – that’s what I do.
How much do you charge?
LinkedIn headshot sessions start at $295 (inc GST) for a studio session, including 1 retouched image. See Pricing above for full package details.
For team headshots, please see my dedicated Professional Headshots page.
Do you photograph men's and women's headshots differently?
Men’s and women’s headshots involve different considerations around lighting, posing, clothing, hair, and retouching, but I approach each person individually rather than applying a gender-based template.
I always aim for a natural image that suits you, your role, and how the photo will be used.
Can you shoot headshots at our event?
Yes, I can set up at a mobile headshot studio at your event.
Conferences, off-sites, launches and company events can be a great opportunity to update headshots for a large number of people efficiently.
I can also combine headshot photography with broader event coverage if required.
