“I highly recommend working with Jesse!
I worked with him for a corporate shoot and a personal branding shoot. Jesse has a great way of putting his clients at ease. I usually get nervous in front of the camera, especially when posing alone, but he made me forget the camera was there!
He is down to earth, honest, and a great photographer. I love my photos!”

“It's what Jesse Taylor does in front of the camera that makes him an exceptional photographer, just as much as the superb technical skills he possesses behind it.
He has that rare ability to relax people so that they can show their real selves; he somehow lets you be yourself in a situation many of us find stressful.”

“I engaged Jesse to take a corporate headshot for my website and personal profile. I wanted the shot to be taken outdoors and to portray an urban edginess which is appropriate for my line of work.
Jesse immediately understood the brief. He is easy to work with, is extremely likeable and makes the entire experience rewarding and enjoyable.
The result is fantastic and is proudly displayed on my website.”

Frequently Asked Questions
Is personal branding photography right for me?
A personal branding shoot is for individuals who take how they present themselves seriously, both where they are and where they’re going.
This includes entrepreneurs, business owners, C-suite executives, leaders, and rising stars who want imagery that reflects their position, personality, and ambition.
It’s particularly valuable if you’re visible in your field, whether you’re leading, communicating, or representing yourself or an organisation.
The result is a set of images that feels considered, consistent, and aligned with the level you operate at.
Where are you located?
I am based in Bellevue Hill, in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, just 15 minutes from Sydney CBD.
Many sessions are photographed on location, allowing us to create images that feel natural and aligned with your brand.
If needed, I also have a private studio space available for individual sessions.
Do I have to go to your studio?
Not at all. In fact, as a mobile photographer, most of my work is done on location . I bring a high-end studio experience to you, shooting across Sydney (and beyond).
This “on-location” approach is designed to:
- Minimise Disruption: You can get your portraits and quickly be back at your desk.
- Maximise Productivity: Your valuable time is spent where it matters most, rather than travelling to a studio.
- Brand Alignment: Shooting in your space aligns your personal and professional branding.
What locations do you serve?
While I am based in Sydney, shooting across the entire Greater Sydney region, I also regularly travel further afield to serve clients throughout Regional NSW, across Australia and internationally.
No matter where you are located, I can bring my mobile studio to you to ensure your brand is reflected in your photos.
I'm not photogenic and hate having my photo taken! Can you help?
I hear you! Almost everyone I photograph starts by telling me how much they dislike being in front of the camera. We are often our own harshest critics, focusing on features that others, who see us much more generously, never even notice.
Campaigns like Dove’s Real Beauty have tapped into this, powerfully highlighting how we struggle to be kind to ourselves.
My job is to change this narrative.
Being “photogenic” isn’t a personality trait – it’s a result of great lighting and expert direction.
I specialise in creating a relaxed environment where you feel comfortable. I see the best in you and use sympathetic posing and flattering lighting to bring that out.
My goal is to give you a new portrait that you are genuinely proud to share with the world.
Do I Have To Smile?
In short: No.
While a warm smile can project confidence and approachability, it isn’t the only way to create a powerful professional image.
Some clients prefer a more serious, authoritative, or thoughtful look, and for some industries, this approach makes a much stronger statement.
I also work with many clients who feel self-conscious about their teeth or their smile.
Regardless of the reason, a forced smile looks unnatural, and you likely won’t be happy with the result.
My goal is to capture authenticity, and we can achieve this without a smile.
I will provide the expert direction needed to ensure your expression feels genuine and you’re happy with the photos.
No forced smiles required.
What should I wear?
Your clothing plays a key role in how you’re perceived, so we approach it with intention.
Start by considering your audience and industry, then think about how you want to present yourself. Choose outfits that support that positioning.
As a general guide:
- Keep it simple, well fitted, and free of distractions.
- Avoid bold patterns and large logos.
- Select colours that complement you and work well with the setting.
If your brand is more expressive, we can absolutely reflect that. The key is that it feels deliberate.
I recommend bringing a couple of options, even if you’re only after a single image. Whether you’re deciding yourself or coordinating for someone else, I’ll guide selections on the day, ensuring everything works both photographically and in line with your brand.
I have a more detailed look at the thorny “What should I wear” question here.
How long does it take?
Sessions are typically 20, 60 or 90 minutes, depending on the package you choose. This is usually more than enough time to get a great set of images.
That said, I don’t rush the process. If we need a little longer to get everything right, we’ll take it. The goal is simple: you leave with images you’re happy with.
Can you work with our brand guidelines?
Absolutely. If you have a specific brand style guide or existing photos you need to align with, I can replicate the lighting, background, and cropping to ensure your new portraits fit perfectly.
Matching a specific “look” is a standard part of my service for corporate clients. Whether you need to maintain consistency with a global head office or want your new hires to sit seamlessly alongside your current photos, I can provide the technical expertise to ensure a cohesive brand image.
What about the background?
The background plays an important role in how your images feel and where they can be used.
A clean, neutral backdrop (white, grey, or similar) is a popular choice. It creates a polished, highly versatile look that works well across LinkedIn, websites, and press.
Alternatively, other options may be more appropriate for your brand:
- Brand Colours: Supporting a cohesive visual identity.
- Environmental Portraits: Using your workspace for a natural, contextual feel.
- Clean Interiors: Adding depth without distraction, keeping the focus on you.
If you’re unsure, I’ll guide you toward a combination that gives you both polished and more natural images, ensuring flexibility across different platforms and uses.
Do you provide a hair and makeup service?
Yes, I can arrange for a professional hair and makeup artist (HMUA) to be on-site for your personal branding session. When planning your schedule, please keep the following in mind:
- Full Professional Styling: A complete camera-ready makeover typically requires a minimum of 45 minutes.
- Quick Touch-Up Service: For tighter schedules, a “light” service (focusing on taming hair and reducing shine for both men and women) is often all that’s needed for a polished result.
- My Rescue Kit: even without a dedicated artist, I am always prepared. I bring matte powder, blotting tissues, lint rollers, hairspray, and other items for those last minute adjustments so you look your best before we shoot.
What is a look?
Think of a look as a distinct “vibe” or visual story. It consists of a specific combination of wardrobe, lighting, background, and styling.
We consider it a new look when we make a significant change that shifts the overall mood or feel of the photo, such as:
- Wardrobe Change: Swapping a professional blazer for a casual sweater or a formal dress.
- Background/Location Shift: Moving from a classic studio grey to an outdoor “lifestyle” setting.
- Lighting Change: Moving from bright, airy high-key lighting to a moody, dramatic low-key setup.
To keep your session flowing, minor “micro-adjustments” are not new looks. These include:
- Small Wardrobe Tweaks: Adding or removing glasses, or buttoning/unbuttoning a jacket.
- Quick Hair Adjustments: Moving your hair from in front of to behind your shoulders.
- Framing Changes: Switching from a close-up headshot to a waist-up portrait.
Pro Tip: Some changes are quick whereas others can take a significant amount of time. All sessions can be tailored to accommodate multiple changes and we can often do this on the fly, but it’s always best to check ahead in advance to ensure we allow enough time.
How do I receive the photos?
I provide a seamless digital delivery process designed for efficiency. Once your session is complete, the workflow follows these steps:
- Private Online Gallery: You will receive a link to a password-protected online gallery.
- Review and Selection: This gallery allows you to review the photos, share images with stakeholders, and select favourites.
- High Resolution Files: The photos can be downloaded as full sized files and as web optimised versions. These files are yours to keep.
- Retouched Files: The final images are uploaded to the same gallery for easy access.
What's the turnaround time?
I know you’re eager to see your shots, so I prioritise a fast workflow:
- The Proof Gallery: You’ll receive your high-resolution proofs within 24 hours of the shoot.
- Professional Retouching: The final polished images will be delivered within 48 hours of your order.
If you have an urgent deadline, like a press release or a website launch, let me know before we start and I can usually fast-track your gallery.
Do you retouch / photoshop the photos?
Yes, professional retouching is included with all personal branding packages.
The approach is subtle, refining distractions while keeping the result natural. The goal is for you to look like yourself on your best day, not overly processed.
If you have specific preferences, I can tailor the retouching to suit your style.
What’s included in retouching?
My approach is to enhance rather than alter, ensuring a polished, natural result.
For portraits, this includes refining skin, reducing shine, tidying hair and clothing, and removing minor distractions.
I’ll also clean up backgrounds so nothing draws attention away from you.
If you have specific requests, I’m happy to accommodate them.
What makes you different?
Quite simply, I focus on you. I don’t offer a cookie-cutter service, working to a formula that doesn’t account for your individuality.
You’re unique, so I create photos for you and your brand.
I work with you to find the right pose and expression to bring out your very best.
I pride myself on giving you photos you are proud to use.
And I work really hard to do this as quickly as possible, knowing that many people don’t enjoy the experience.
You deserve to get great photos with the minimum of fuss – that’s what I do.
How much do you charge?
Studio personal branding session start at $295 (see Pricing above for details)
