The Phi Phi + Bamboo Island tour from Phuket is the route we recommend when you want the classic Phi Phi highlights plus serious beach time on one of the most beautiful sandbanks in the Andaman Sea. Operated by Seastar Andaman from their own pier at Laem Nga, this full-day speedboat trip combines snorkeling at Bamboo Island, Maya Bay, the emerald Pileh Lagoon, Monkey Beach and Viking Cave – with a Thai lunch on Phi Phi Don and hotel pickup included.

We have been sending guests on this exact route since 2004. What we like about it: the morning starts at Bamboo Island, so you snorkel and sunbathe on nearly empty sand before the busiest hours, and the afternoon ends with a swim in Pileh Lagoon – the moment guests talk about for years.

Typical Itinerary – Hour by Hour

Last updated: August 2026 by Tour Information Phuket – local Phuket specialist since 2004. Operated by Seastar Andaman. Times and park rules (Maya Bay closed 1 Aug – 30 Sep) verified for 2026.

Bamboo Island – Snorkeling & Beach Time

Bamboo Island (Koh Mai Phai) is a flat sandbank surrounded by shallow, crystal-clear water. Because the tour arrives here first, you get the best conditions before the bigger boats show up: soft sand, easy current-free snorkeling and the classic postcard view. Children can stand far out in the water, and the reef along the shore is alive with parrotfish and surgeonfish.

Our tip: wear reef-safe sunscreen, keep your mask with you – the best fish are usually 20–30 metres off the beach – and stay on the marked sand area. This is also where the paddle boards come out: a few quiet minutes standing on the Andaman Sea are pure holiday.

Maya Bay – Thailand's Most Famous Bay

The bay made famous by The Beach needs no introduction. On this tour you see Maya Bay as part of the sightseeing route around Phi Phi Leh – the boat passes the bay and, depending on park rules and weather, you stop at the Loh Samah Bay boardwalk side. Important 2026 rules: no swimming in Maya Bay, max. 1 hour on the beach, and the bay is closed from 1 August to 30 September every year for recovery. Your guide will explain the current situation on the day.

Pileh Lagoon – the Emerald Highlight

For most of our guests, Pileh Lagoon is the best part of the day – even better than Maya Bay. It is a near-closed circle of vertical cliffs with water so protected it feels like a lake: emerald, crystal clear and about 28–29 °C. Here the engines go quiet, you swim or try a paddle board, and the narrow entrance gap lets the light in. Keep your phone in a dry bag until the engine stops – this is the shot you want.

Monkey Beach & Viking Cave

The short final stops: Monkey Beach on the west of Phi Phi Don, where wild macaques are fun to watch from the boat (no feeding, keep bags closed), and Viking Cave on Phi Phi Leh, famous for its ancient boat-shaped paintings and the bamboo scaffolding of the swiftlet-nest collectors. You see the cave from the water – access is protected.

Lunch on Phi Phi Don

Around 12:30 you sit down for a proper Thai lunch at a beach restaurant on Phi Phi Don – rice, curry, fish or chicken, vegetables, fruit and drinks. It is not fine dining, but a few metres from the Andaman Sea it tastes better than in any hotel. Vegetarian? Just tell us when you book. After lunch there is free time to walk through Ton Sai Village or dip into the sea before the afternoon stops.
