Tooth-colored fillings in Chiang Mai

A filling repairs a tooth after decay has been removed. Kitcha Dental Clinic does not use amalgam: fillings are made with tooth-colored composite resin, matched to your tooth.

Is this you?

  • A tooth is sensitive to cold, hot or sweet food and drinks.
  • You can see or feel a hole, a dark spot or a rough edge on a tooth.
  • Food keeps getting stuck in the same place.
  • An old filling has chipped, cracked or fallen out.

Early decay often causes no pain at all, which is why regular check-ups help. A small X-ray shows decay between the teeth or under an old filling.

Treatment depends on how deep the decay is

  • Very early decay

Fluoride and careful brushing can sometimes stop it before a filling is needed.

  • A cavity

The decay is removed and the tooth is filled with tooth-colored composite.

  • A large cavity

An inlay, an onlay or a crown may protect the tooth better than a large filling.

  • Decay that reaches the nerve

Root canal treatment is usually needed before the tooth is restored.

Your dentist explains which treatment your tooth needs after the examination.

Is a tooth bothering you?

Book a check-up. Your dentist examines the tooth, takes a small X-ray if needed and explains the treatment and fee before starting.

What happens at your visit

  1. Examination and X-ray

Your dentist checks how far the decay goes, using a small X-ray if needed, and explains the plan.

  2. Removing the decay

For deeper cavities the tooth is numbed with local anesthesia; small, shallow fillings often do not need it. The decay is removed and the tooth is cleaned.

  3. Filling and polishing

Composite is placed in layers, hardened with a curing light, shaped and polished, and your bite is checked for high spots.

Most fillings are done in one visit. If several teeth need treatment, your dentist plans the visits with you.

Cost of a filling

Filling prices depend on how many surfaces of the tooth are filled and are listed per tooth on our prices page. X-rays are charged separately, only if you need them.

Prices on our prices page are shown as ranges. Your final fee depends on what the examination finds, and may include additional items — such as a rubber dam or special materials — when your treatment needs them. Your dentist explains these before treatment.

Filling FAQs

Do you use amalgam (silver) fillings?

No. Kitcha Dental Clinic does not use amalgam. Fillings are made with tooth-colored composite resin; for larger cavities your dentist may suggest an inlay, an onlay or a crown.

Does getting a filling hurt?

Small, shallow fillings often need no anesthesia. For deeper cavities the tooth is numbed with local anesthesia first. Tell your dentist if you feel anything sharp during treatment.

How long does a filling take?

Most fillings are done in one visit. If several teeth need treatment, your dentist plans the visits with you.

Can a filling break?

Yes. Chewing, grinding and clenching put pressure on fillings, so over time they can wear, chip or crack, and decay can start under them. A broken filling is usually removed and replaced; larger repairs may need an inlay, an onlay or a crown.

Can decay be stopped without a filling?

Sometimes, if it is found very early, before a cavity forms. Fluoride and careful brushing can help, and your dentist checks it again at your next visit. Once there is a cavity, it needs to be cleaned out and filled.

How much does a filling cost?

Filling prices depend on how many surfaces of the tooth are filled and are listed per tooth on our prices page. X-rays are charged separately, only if you need them.
