Who we are
Shoreline of Infinity Group is a cooperative of artists and supporting individuals. Based in Edinburgh, we plan and deliver science fiction/fantasy/speculative fiction themed projects, with members from around the world.
What we do
SoIG publish Scotland’s only sci-fi magazine (“Best Magazine 2018” – British Fantasy Society Award winner) quarterly with short stories, poems, artwork and non-fiction. We run monthly sci-fi cabaret nights in Edinburgh (including special events at the Edinburgh International Book Festival, International Science Festival and Hidden Door Festival), produce podcasts and audio dramas, work with visual artists on public exhibition projects, and we publish a wider range of speculative texts including novels, short story collections, poetry anthologies and comics. The Opportunity
SoIG want to reach a wider audience of readers, audience-goers and online supporters. Breaking this down we want to make sure we:
- reach the audiences we should reach (e.g. SF&F communities, publishers and related businesses)
- reach people who are already interested in sci-fi but who don’t know about us / read it actively
- reach those who wouldn’t normally look at what we do.
Initially we are looking for a volunteer to work in one of our project areas (eg magazine), but hopefully their output could be applied to other projects in the future. This would be well suited to a student, or recent graduate, with a background (or interest) in marketing.
Benefits
As part of the Shoreline of Infinity Group, a successful candidate will have the opportunity to engage in a wide variety of voluntary, creative projects. They can utilise the talents of our writers and artists, leading on unique marketing projects to build an impressive portfolio of marketing and PR experience.
